About the People's Party
QUESTION: What is the People's Party?
ANSWER: The People's Party (also known as the Popular Party) of Spain is a centrist political organization that defends the dignity of the human being, advocates Democracy, the Rule of Law and solidarity between the Spanish regions. Ours is the largest political party in Spain in terms of number of members and elected officials. It was founded in 1977 and underwent a transformation in 1989 that culminated in its victory in the 1995 regional election, and in the 1996 and 2006 national elections. The People's Party of Spain is presided by Mariano Rajoy.

Our Party in the United States
Q: Where in the United States can I find representatives from the People's Party?
A: The People's Party of Spain in the United States (PPE-USA) is headquartered in New Jersey and has active delegations in New York, Florida, Massachusetts, and California. Our party has members in all the states. We recently held our First Convention; we invite you to listen to Mariano Rajoy's message.
Q: What are the objectives of the People's Party of Spain in the U.S.?
A: Our goals are:
- To be a forum for Spanish citizens living in the United States where they can be in touch with what's happening in Spain and to enable the People's Party to represent their interests in Spain.
- To spread the ideas and activities of the party among the Spanish nationals in the United States.
- To support the party in the preparation of the electoral campaigns and support our fellow citizens in whatever questions regarding these campaigns they may have.
How to Participate
Q: Where can I go online to discuss political subjects of interest, or speak with representatives of the Party?
A: The web site of the People's Party has discussion forums, and hosts periodic conversations with Party leaders. In the U.S., we also have a Yahoo! e-mail discussion group.
Q: I have been thinking about the issues concerning my country and fellow citizens for some time, but only on an informal level. Now I want to get involved in a more meaningful way. What can I do?
