  European Parliament Election Campaign Closing in Miami
 

The People's Party of Spain held an event to close its overseas campaign for the European Parliament elections on Thursday, June 4, 2009 in Miami, Florida. It was presided by Alfredo Prada, Director of the Department for Overseas Affairs of the People's Party of Spain, Neir Taboada, President of the People's Party of Spain in the US, and Juan José Núñez, Secretary General of the People's Party of Spain in the US and Territorial Delegate in Florida.   Alfredo Prada's Visit to New York
 

Alfredo Prada, director of the Department for Overseas Affairs of the People's Party of Spain, finished a two-day visit to the United States with a meeting on February 22, 2009 with Spanish immigrants from the Galicia region. The People's Party of Spain held its XVI National Congress in Valencia, Spain June 20 through 22. The People's Party of Spain in the United States was represented at the congress by two delegates: its President, Neir Taboada, and its Secretary General, Juan José Núñez. The US delegation participated in the Political and Party Rules conferences, met with delegates from the People's Party of Spain overseas, and attended a meeting of the Humanism and Democracy Foundation (H+D) at the headquarters of the FAES Foundation. On November 13, 2007, Mr. Inocencio Arias, Consul General of Spain in Los Angeles, gave a conference on the United Nations at the School of Leadership and Education Sciences (SOLES) of the University of San Diego, California. Esperanza Aguirre, President of the Community (state) of Madrid, Spain, visited Miami, where she was named "Española Universal" by the Spain-United States Chamber of Commerce of Miami. On November 1, 2007 the Spanish author and political analyst José María Marco presented his book "La Nueva Revolución Americana" in Washington DC. The event was attended by a delegation of the People's Party of Spain in the United States comprised of: Neir Taboada, president; Juan José Núñez, secretary general; Carlos Montero Luque, territorial delegate in Massachusetts; and Nuria De Francisco, territorial delegate in California. On October 22, 2007, the former President of Spain, José María Aznar, visited Miami, where he received the Presidential Medal from the Miami-Dade College, gave a speech at the Freedom Tower, and met with a group of members and sympathizers of the People's Party of Spain in Florida. [Details]

A delegation from the Spanish province of Pontevedra visited the city of Miami, Florida between October 10 and 15, 2007.   Rodrigo Rato's Farewell Dinner in Washington, D.C.
 

On October 10, 2007, a group of friends and members of the People's Party of Spain in Washington, DC organized a farewell dinner for Mr. Rodrigo Rato, outgoing Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Mr. Rato has served as IMG Managing Director from 2004 2007. Prior to that, he was Spain's Vice President and Minister (Secretary) of Economic Affairs from 1996 to 2004. This group of Spaniards from the Washington DC area thanked Mr. Rato for his brilliant and effective work at the helm of the FMI. [Details]
