PP wins local and municipal elections

Municipal and state elections were held in Spain on May 27, 2007. The People's Party won the elections, with 35.6% of all ballots.

Municipal Election Results
  • Votes: PP 7,914,084 (35.6%, PSOE 7,758,093 (34.9%), IU 1,216,443 (5.5%), CIU 722,653 (3.3%) - simple majority of PP.
  • City council members: PP 23,347, PSOE 24,026, CIU 3,384, IU 2,033.
  • Participation: 6.8%.

State Election Results
  • Aragon: PP 23, PSOE 30, PAR 9, CHA 4, IU 1.
  • Asturias: PP 20, PSOE 21, IU 4.
  • Balearic Islands: PP 28, PSOE 16, PSOE+EXC 6, PSM-EN+EU-EV+ESQUERR 4, UM 3, PSM-VERDS 1, AIPF 1 - simple majority of PP.
  • Canary Islands: PP 15, PSOE 26, CC-PNC 17, CC-AHI 2.
  • Cantabria: PP 17, PSOE 10, PRC 12 - simple majority of PP.
  • Castille and León: PP 48, PSOE 33, UPL 2 - outright majority of PP.
  • Castille-La Mancha: PP 21, PSOE 26.
  • Extremadura: PP 27, PSOE 38.
  • Madrid: PP 67, PSOE 42, IU 11 - outright majority of PP.
  • Murcia: PP 29, PSOE 15, IU 1 - outright majority of PP.
  • Navarre: UPN 22, PSOE 12, NA-BAI 12, CDN 2, IU 2 - simple majority of UPN, political ally of the PP in Navarre.
  • La Rioja: PP 17, PSOE 14, PR 2 - outright majority of PP.

Ready for state and municipal elections 2007

On May 27, 2007 Spaniards will elect their city mayors and state assemblies in 13 of the 17 autonomous communities (Spanish states). Our party participates in this election with the responsibility of being the only political party that defends the interests of all Spaniards, maintains a clear policy of no negotiations with ETA terrorists, and supports all victims of terrorism. With the slogan "Trust", the People's Party wants to convey a message of firmness, peace of mind and security to all Spaniards.
